This project was fun because I got to redesign the cover for Jurassic Park, one of my favorite book and movie series. The project was to take a book of our choosing and illustrate an interesting cover for it. I wanted to visually explain how the dinosaurs in the park came to be without giving away too much of the story. I decided to illustrate the gene splicing that the scientists in the book use to replicate the dinosaurs and bring them to life. I illustrated the island on the back cover to make it clear that the park is on a remote island.
I wanted the water to feel like a test tube and illustrated it so you can see the process that takes place underwater. Under the surface you can see the spliced DNA reforming, wrapping itself around the egg, and an x-ray image of the dinosaur growing inside.
